Position Summary
The Academic Affairs Manager acts as the key liaison for faculty, students, and staff with needs related to the Office of Academic Affairs, is a member of the School of Law management team, and provides leadership in the design, implementation, and oversight of multiple education programs within the law school. The Academic Affairs Manager works closely with the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs to plan, implement, direct and assess all curricular and academic programs within the law school, including the development of new academic programs, managing program reviews, drafting curricular offerings, and ensuring ongoing compliance with accreditation standards. This person also manages, in conjunction with the Academic Dean, the academic and programmatic activities related to course scheduling, enrollment planning, curriculum development, student advising, and assessment, in addition to the appointment process for adjunct, visitor, courtesy, and emeritus faculty. The Academic Affairs Manager is also responsible for hiring, training, and supervising the Experiential Learning Support Specialist and Academic Excellence Support Specialist.

This position reports to the Academic Dean and has budget authority for the annual Academic Affairs, Clinics and Externships Program, and Academic Excellence Program budgets.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Five years of progressively responsible administrative experience.
  • Three years of academic program experience in a graduate school setting.
  • Three years of supervisory experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to 1) work effectively with students, staff, and faculty from culturally diverse backgrounds and with multiple intersectional identities; and 2) advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in the university community.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and ability to manage a variety of confidential information.
  • Experience managing complex course scheduling across multiple programs.
  • Ability to take the initiative to build professional relationships with faculty, students, and staff within the law school and University.
  • Ability to represent academic programs effectively and professionally as a representative of the Academic Dean's office.
  • Excellent decision-making skills and ability to engage in work that requires a high degree of confidentiality and discretion.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Outlook/Exchange, word processing, Excel, and database tools.
  • Experience developing and managing annual budgets.
  • Demonstrated experience with course scheduling databases, information management, and reporting.
    Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate, interpret, and formulate policy and processes to ensure they meet program goals and comply with university policy.
  • Knowledge of Banner or similar enterprise reporting systems.
