Job Summary
The Department of Social Sciences at Albany State University is seeking applicants for a full time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Psychology position.
The successful candidate must demonstrate excellence in teaching, and have a commitment to integrating new technologies in the learning process and the ability to inspire, motivate and empower students to succeed. The successful candidate will work closely with the Psychology Program Coordinator with a goal of building the Psychology program’s brand, its presence and viability. Lastly, the candidate should have a program of research that can involve undergraduate and master’s level students, or a research agenda that can be developed involving undergraduate and master’s level students. Assistant Professors will teach 30 credit hours on an annual ten-month contract with benefits. Course release is available once a research program is established.
Responsibilities
- Responsibilities include teaching both introductory and advanced level undergraduate and master’s level courses, preparing and delivering lectures in face-to-face, hybrid, and online environments, leading and moderating classroom discussions, and administering and grading examinations.
- Other essential duties will include advising and mentoring students, participating in campus events, committee work, and other possible duties as assigned.
- 5-6 class teaching load, including Behavioral Statistics, Research, Experimental, and other upper-division courses.

Doctorate in the teaching discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
A strong record of teaching is desired.
A minimum of two years teaching experience is preferred.
Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate evidence of successful teaching at the college level in both traditional and online environments, and have experience with the LMS GaVIEW.
Proposed Salary
Salary range is from $45,000 to $52,000
