Our West Campus is located at 2400 Gillionville Road, Albany, GA 31707. Our East Campus is located at 504 College Drive, Albany, GA 31705. The Human Resources office for both campuses is located on the West Campus in Building K, Suite 111.

Job Summary

The Transfer Evaluation Specialist is an administrative position within the Office of the Registrar which requires a candidate who can produce consistent, accurate results without direct, regular supervision. The role is primarily responsible for ensuring a smooth transition for students transferring into Albany State University through the efficient evaluation and processing of incoming credit.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate transfer coursework, entering all courses into Banner and articulate those that fall into the incoming student’s course program of study.
  • Work with the College Source Transfer Evaluation System (TES) to assist with accurate evaluation and articulation of courses.
  • Process credit for prior learning, including institutional, CLEP, AP, and others.
  • Reevaluate transfer coursework when a student changes their major.
  • Articulate transient courses when a student with permission to take courses as a transient completes the courses.
  • Communicate transfer policy to students and answer questions they have throughout the process.
  • Work with the Admissions office and other members of the Enrollment Management and Student Success (EMSS) team to ensure all transcripts are received for processing.
  • Work with faculty and administrators in Academic Affairs to ensure that transfer courses are evaluated for articulation when necessary.
  • Monitor and assist with the transfersupport@asurams.edu email account.
  • Monitor and assist with questions that come in from Ram Central and other offices to the Office of the Registrar.
  • Work with the EMSS data analyst and compliance officer as needed to improve the reports used to track transfer articulations and ensure accuracy in the evaluation and articulation process.
  • Ensure that all relevant documents are stored in the Banner Document Management System.
  • Work with the Registrar/Chief Transfer Officer to ensure understanding of ASU and USG transfer policies and course equivalencies.
  • Work with the Registrar to improve map processes, improve their accuracy, and strengthen our service to our students.
  • Work with the Associate Registrar to correct any errors related to ADC or National Student Clearinghouse reporting.
  • Assist with Banner testing when updates are installed.
  • Assist with Office of the Registrar projects and tasks as needed, such as commencement exercises.
  • Serve on committees as assigned.
  • Cross-train in other processes within the Office of the Registrar to assist when team members are out of the office or at times when those processes are in higher demand.
  • Train other members of the Office of the Registrar team so that they can assist with the transfer evaluation processes when they are at peak times.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree OR work experience relevant to this position at a level equivalent to the degree and work experience listed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of records management and the importance of accurate documentation and evidence-based processes.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Banner (or similar) student information system.
  • Knowledge of and experience with document management systems.
  • Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs.
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret policy.
  • Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving ability
