Location

Our West Campus is located at 2400 Gillionville Road, Albany, GA 31707. Our East Campus is located at 504 College Drive, Albany, GA 31705. The Human Resources office for both campuses is located on the West Campus in Building K, Suite 111.

Job Summary

This is an accounting position that coordinates daily operations and special project assignments. Job knowledge requires in-depth knowledge of general accounting procedures and principals and work will be measured by the University System of Georgia Board of Regents BPM, Albany State University Policy and Procedures, GAAP, GASB, and NACUBO principles of fund accounting.

Responsibilities

*Works closely with the senior management and the Controller in the areas of Revenue Collections, Accounts Receivables and General Accounting as needed.

*Ensures valid and accurate aging of accounts receivables.

*Prepares comprehensive aging of accounts receivables.

*Reviews, analyzes, and reconciles all University receivables to ensure validity, accuracy, and maintains comprehensive documentation.

*Coordinates with contracted billing agency in the collection of student accounts receivables.

*Communicates with debtors and forwards to the Controller delinquent accounts for final collection efforts.

*Prepares and performs accounts receivables write offs.

*Reconciles accounts receivables/Banner accounts.

*Updates AR indicator flag process for registration

*Assists with registration process, bookstore financial aid sales.

*Coordinates billing with third party.

*Processes billing statements.

*Plays a vital role in related projects such as monthly and annual year-end closeout and preparation of documentation for annual audits.

*Assists in the preparation of monthly and annual financial reports and other related reports required by the University constituencies, the Board of Regents and other external agencies.

*Assists with the resolution of cash management issues of federal, state and private student financial aid programs and other granting agencies as required.

*Performs other job-related duties, as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Education

Associate degree required. A combination of training and experience can be substituted for the degree.

Experience

2 years of experience using an accounting software system.

2 years working on a computer with programs like Microsoft office

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree preferred.

Banner and PeopleSoft Financial experience is preferred.

Proposed Salary

Salary range is from $25,000 to $36,000

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Knowledge

Must be able to apply the principles outlined in the Financial Accounting and Reporting Manual for Higher Education.

Must clearly understand and apply policies and procedures as outlined in the Board of Regents Policies and Procedures.

Skills

The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact well with the University community.

Past work history must demonstrate progressive levels of responsibility in the area of accounting with preference given to the fund accounting area.

Must be willing to invest time and energy to learn Federal, state and University policies and procedures and be able to apply applicable regulations to day-to-day operations.

Abilities

Ability to meet and serve students, staff, and faculty tactfully and effectively, and maintain effective working relations with other staff/empoyees.

Must be willing to promote cooperation and understanding within the department and organization.

Must be self-motivated and able to work independently.
