Our West Campus is located at 2400 Gillionville Road, Albany, GA 31707. Our East Campus is located at 504 College Drive, Albany, GA 31705. The Human Resources office for both campuses is located on the West Campus in Building K, Suite 111.

Job Summary

The Master of Public Administration Program at Albany State University invites applications for a tenure track faculty position in Public Administration at the rank of Assistant Professor. The start date of the position is August 2022. The ideal candidate for this position will share the MPA program’s goals of educating students to excel educationally, and to advance the public service values and tenets of the field of Public Administration. The candidate will teach graduate courses in Public Administration including core and concentration courses.

Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Teaching workload of 9 semester hours of graduate courses and the preparation of classroom instruction
  • Provide students assistance including advising
  • Participate in any duties performed in the program including assigned duties, assessment, curriculum review and development, and accreditation activities.
  • Attend university functions, including commencement, convocation, and faculty committee, and departmental meetings
  • Serve as Internship/Project Coordinator and Director of the Lois B. Hollis Center for Social Equity
  • Candidate must engage in continuing scholarship and professional development, including professional publications, conference presentations, grant writing and public service
  • Candidate must also contribute to professional organizations and the professional growth of the university
  • Candidate must demonstrate teaching experience commensurate to the level of appointment
  • The successful candidate will be given a 10 months yearly contract (August-May)
Required Qualifications

Required Education

Ph.D. in Public Administration, Doctorate in Public Administration (DPA) or any related field with practical experience and scholarship within the field of Public Administration is required.

The candidate must show evidence of teaching excellence and a research agenda.

The candidate must be able to apply and integrate technology and other relevant software in teaching.

Required Experience

An ability to communicate and interact effectively with a group of stakeholders, from different cultures and backgrounds, including students, faculty, community leaders and members of community organizations is required.

Experience with experiential learning especially coordination of internship placement activities is required.

Experience in online teaching is required.

Proposed Salary

Salary range is from $55,000 to $60,000
