Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities
The Data Management Specialist will design, develop, and implement processes and products that promote the successful conduct of MCC-led Investigator-Initiated Trials (IITs). They will create solutions that yield an extraordinary level of data integrity for the tools and products used to capture IIT study information. The Data Management Specialist will utilize creative and constructive critical-thinking skills and engage teammates to assure that all IITRO stakeholders (i.e., investigators, study teams, funding sponsors) are positioned to achieve optimum outcomes. They represent MCC and IITRO on local and national platforms while continuing to monitor evolving best practices for IIT data management and evaluate risk/benefit of adopting new best practices at MCC.
Minimum Hiring Standards

Bachelor's degree with at least three years of data management experience inclusive of IIT data capture, establishment of data capture tools, participation in data analysis for IITs in either an academic medical health care system, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology company environment, or the equivalent (no more than two years of this requirement may be satisfied by experience in a relevant advanced degree program or post-doctoral position).
Ability to successfully sit for clinical research certification within the first year of employment.
Preferred Hiring Standards
Undergraduate degree in a science or health profession program area or advanced degree preferred.
Expertise in interpreting complex protocols in compliance with federal, state, local regulations.
Independent judgment, critical-thinking and decision-making skill.
Demonstrated problem-solving and interpersonal skills that facilitate effective interactions within cross-functional teams and with external customers.
Ability to multi-task, project-manage, and prioritize autonomously while working efficiently and
collaboratively within a team-driven, results-oriented culture.
Ability to work professionally in a fast paced, demanding environment while adapting to shifts in project
priorities, changes in regulatory guidance, and evolving work environment.
Ability to identify issues and generate solutions or request appropriate intervention by management.
High level of proficiency with Microsoft Word; Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Adobe Acrobat along with multiple software applications such as OnCore Clinical Trials Management System.
Advanced understanding of medical and scientific terminology, especially as it relates to oncology and biomedical basic and clinical research.
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, both oral and written.
