ATTENTION:

The Department of Admissions at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater seeks an Admissions and Recruitment Coordinator II, (Admissions and Recruitment Coordinator II).

Academic staff positions are provided fixed term appointments with annual renewals unless otherwise noted. Reappointment for subsequent terms is dependent upon performance, university funding and external forces.

JOB DETAILS:

The Admissions Office at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater invites applications for the position of Admissions and Recruitment Coordinator II. The Admissions Coordinator assists prospective students in navigating the college selection process. This is a 12-month, full-time position that reports to the Assistant Director of Admissions, and will be responsible for recruiting, admitting and enrolling a talented and diverse student body. This position will establish and maintain relationships with prospective students, parents, and high school counselors. The Coordinator will recruit in both Wisconsin and Illinois. The individual will present information to prospective students during scheduled daily visit presentations, will assist during campus open house events and will perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Valid driver’s license (or ability to obtain a valid driver’s license)
  • One-year experience in admissions, recruitment, higher education, or marketing related field
  • Strong written communication and public speaking skills
Desired Characteristics:
  • Strong organizational and event planning skills
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English. Ability to professionally speak, read, write and translate between languages.
  • Professional experience working with students and/or individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Experience with use of CRM (customer relationship management) systems, particularly Slate
  • Familiarity with student information systems, particularly PeopleSoft
  • Effective interpersonal skills and ability to establish positive relationships with students, staff and faculty
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Willingness and ability to be an active participant in the following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training drills
  • Ability to interact respectfully with people from diverse socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds
RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following examples of duties and responsibilities illustrate the general range of tasks assigned to the position, but are not intended to define the limits of required duties. Other essential duties may be assigned consistent with the general scope of the position.

General Duties:
  • Market, recruit and provide customer support to prospects and applicants through face-to-face interactions, small and large group presentations, educational fairs, telephone and email inquiries, and high school visits. This may include extensive travel, including nights and weekends, primarily in Wisconsin and Illinois
  • Build relationships and coordinate recruiting activities with targeted community organizations and school districts. Cultivate relationships with community partners
  • Establish working relationships with high school counselors in assigned regions
  • Coordinate prospective student programming to further develop the commitment to UW-W
  • Create and implement effective communication strategies using the CRM and other venues of outreach
  • Use data and current trends to strategically market to and recruit high school students within designated region
Specific Duties:
  • Travel to and recruit students at college fairs and high schools in assigned territories
  • Assist and monitor student application processing and data entry
  • Review applications and make admission decisions in a fair manner, consistent with university and office policy
  • Field telephone and email inquiries from potential students and families and deliver informational presentations to students who come to campus for a tour
  • Meet with prospective students and their parents during campus visits
  • Be familiar with university policies and procedures, especially Housing, Financial Aid, First Year Experience, and Center for Students with Disabilities, to communicate effectively with prospects
  • Facilitate conversations around scholarship opportunities for prospective students
  • Participate in professional organizations, conferences and workshops when appropriate
  • Serve as a liaison for one of the academic colleges and/or other university departments as a representative of the Admissions Office to serve as the primary office contact
  • Additional duties as prescribed by the Assistant/Director of Admissions
