The assistant director of marketing will play an integral role in driving revenue and attendance for the Department of Athletics. Along with the marketing, sales, and communications staff, this individual will assist in increasing attendance, creating a positive and exciting game day atmosphere, increasing fan engagement, and furthering the brand of Rice Athletics.
Essential Functions
- Develops the communication and brand strategy for individual program(s)
- Writes, designs, and coordinates the production of communication and marketing materials
- Recommends integrated marketing plans / programs and strategies to meet business objectives
- Guides event planning and execution as needed to support marketing objectives
- Assists in vendor management on specific projects
- Conducts market research and analysis used to inform decisions regarding strategic marketing
- direction, product segmentation and customer targeting
- Assesses market opportunities and track market trends
- Recommends marketing improvements based on findings
- Performs all other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree
- One year of related experience in the sports marketing field with experience developing marketing plans to drive attendance
- No substitutions for education or experience allowed
- Strong communication skills both oral and written
- Organization and creativity skills
- Analytical problem solving skills
- Master's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, sports administration, or related field
- Graphic design ability with knowledge in Photoshop, InDesign, or other graphic software
