This includes reprogramming human immune cells to respond therapeutically to specific disease-associated cues. An ideal research specialist has knowledge and experience in molecular cloning of plasmid DNA, mammalian cell culture, and flow cytometry. The research specialist will serve in a position as a researcher (75%) and a lab manager (25%). The research specialist will gain valuable research experience in the design, construction, and testing of genetic circuits used in ongoing projects that involve developing T cell and NK therapeutic applications with collaborators from the Texas medical center. Lab management duties will include assessing laboratory supply inventories, assisting in the ordering new reagents, and helping to organize laboratory protocols.
