Job Description
The Mary and Jeff Bell Library at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (TAMU-CC) invites applications for the Director of Resource Management & Discovery at the rank of Associate Librarian. This is a non-tenure track faculty librarian position. This position is responsible for overseeing collection management and providing leadership for the library's Resource Management & Discovery Department. Rank will be determined by experience brought to the position at the time of hire based on current procedure outlined in 12.07.99.C0.01 Fixed Term Faculty Members.
Responsibilities:
- Provides leadership for the Resource Management & Discovery
Department, including
- providing training;
- formulating, implementing, and reviewing policies and
procedures;
- providing oversight for the department's workflow and
processes;
- setting departmental goals and providing leadership in
fulfilling them;
- supervising and evaluating the work of Resource Management
& Discovery staff; and
- reporting on the department's activities, including providing
annual and ad hoc reports related to expenditures, usage
statistics, service/resource provision, and other related
assessment activities.
- providing training;
- Coordinates all aspects of resource acquisitions, including
overseeing ordering and receiving of library materials in all
formats and order types—firm orders, the approval plan,
subscriptions, standing orders, demand driven acquisitions, donated
materials, etc. Collaborates with the Assistant Dean of Libraries
and the Library Finance, Planning, and Assessment Manager to manage
the library materials budget. Monitors materials expenditures and
provides updates as requested.
- Coordinates library collection management projects. Coordinates
annual collection budget allocations in collaboration with the
Assistant Dean. Provides leadership in developing and delivering
the library's e-resource and journal collections, including working
with other library staff to identify, evaluate, and select
resources in support of the university's mission. Ensures that the
library collection development policy is current and reviewed
according to schedule.
- Serves as general administrator for the library management
system and discovery system.
- Maintains open communication with library vendors, publishers,
and consortia, and with library information-technology staff and
university contracts and purchasing personnel to ensure the timely
acquisition and processing of all library resources.
- May provide library reference services in person, via phone,
and through various online channels.
- May serve as a subject liaison, including assisting with
library instruction.
- Increases professional competence through formal or informal
study and professional development activities and is encouraged to
develop a record of scholarship/creative activity.
- Serves on library, university, and/or professional
committees.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree in library science from an ALA-accredited
institution.
- At least 5 years progressively responsible experience as a
professional librarian in an academic library.
- Recent experience with acquisitions and/or collection
management in an academic library, including familiarity with
library collection budgets.
- Supervisory experience.
- Planning and leadership skills, with the ability to function
independently, take initiative, and set goals and priorities in a
dynamic environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to service excellence, diversity &
inclusion, and a patron-centered approach to library technical
services.
- Evidence of effective communication, and interpersonal and
collaborative skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5 or more years experience as a technical services
librarian.
- Experience implementing or administering the Alma library
services platform.
- Experience maintaining a library catalog discovery service
(e.g., Summon, Primo).
- Experience managing a library materials budget.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a continually-changing
environment.

Minimum starting salary: $72,000. Salary will be determined upon qualifications and experience.
