Job Description:

MCLA is accepting applications for Associate Director of Alumni Engagement (ADAE). Reporting to the Senior Director of Institutional Advancement, and in close collaboration with Constituent Engagement Officer, the Associate Director of Alumni Engagement is responsible for developing, marketing, implementing, and evaluating events, outreach, and programs which leverage MCLA's distinct culture and vision and engage alumni from all backgrounds and life-stages. The Associate Director oversees the management of a 21-person Alumni Association Board of Directors, an elected alumni body which serves the more than 19,000 alumni of the College. This position involves regular and extensive interaction with faculty and staff, donors and prospects, community leaders, high-level volunteers, and alumni.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Work with Senior Director and Constituent Engagement Officer to establish long-term goals and objectives for alumni relations program; recommends long and short-range goals and overall direction of programs. Manage the day-to-day operations of the Alumni Engagement program.
  • Engage alumni, increase their connection to each other and to MCLA by organizing, managing, and directing regional alumni programming, events, activities, communications, and special projects to further the goals of the Office of Institutional Advancement.
  • Initiate and maintain regular correspondence with alumni. Actively recruit alumni volunteers, build affinity alumni networks and create shared interest groups. With campus partners, create pathways for student-alumni mentorship. Actively steward relationships with volunteers to maintain, build and strengthen alumni engagement.
  • The Associate Director oversees the management of a 21-person Alumni Association Board of Directors, an elected alumni body which serves the more than 19,000 alumni of the College. This board provides opportunities for alumni leaders to serve and promote the College in partnership with the Alumni Office. The board meets 5 times per year and is deeply involved in the work of the Alumni Office and activities of the Alumni Association through regular committee work.
  • Plan and implement programs/activities for the alumni engagement program, comprising events and activities, benefits and services, communications, volunteer opportunities and campus/community partnerships, including all logistics from space reservations, catering and speaker confirmation through marketing and follow-up.
  • Develop targeted constituent programs; continuously review and evaluate programs; develop and implement improved methods as required.
  • Develop, recommend, monitor and revise budgets for alumni program.
  • With the Constituent Engagement Officer, manage and coordinate alumni-related e-mail communication, newsletters, website content, social media marketing and advertisements.
  • Establish and maintain communication and cooperative working relationships with fellow administrators, faculty, staff, students and student organizations, and/or the community in order to accomplish the objectives of the alumni engagement program.
  • Assist in data integrity efforts to ensure accurate and complete alumni database records. Perform additional duties as assigned and assist with special projects as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 2 years' experience in alumni engagement in higher education, and broad knowledge of the principles of fundraising
  • A hands-on, collegial worker with the temperament to thrive as part of a small, busy team in a limited-resources environment.
  • Exceptional customer service, motivational, organizational, and time management skills
  • A commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, and a proven record of engaging stakeholders who hold diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently and collaboratively
  • A high regard for confidentiality and sensitivity in dealing with volunteers, alumni, and colleagues in a professional environment.
  • Proficient in Excel, and Word; and ability to learn additional systems
  • Familiarity with and use of Blackbaud Raiser's Edge and Blackbaud NetCommunity.
  • Ability to work weekends and evenings, as needed.
  • Ability to conduct approved business travel, as needed.
  • Ability to represent the educational mission of MCLA.

Additional Information:

This is a full-time, benefited position in the APA bargaining unit. The salary range for this position is $52,000-$55,000.
