Position Summary:

The Administrative Services Assistant is responsible for a wide range of procurement, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, cashiering, and administrative services at a Community College.

Incumbents must possess proven ability to effectively work with a culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and student. They are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams etc.)

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate’s degree with three (3) or more years of related experience; or a combination of education, training, and experience which would lead to the competencies required for successful performance of the position’s essential duties.

Successful Candidate must have or must possess:
  • Experience with the Banner financial accounting system.
  • Experience with Business Office operations including procurement.
  • Experience in a Cashier’s/Bursar’s Office and accounts receivable functions.
  • Experience adhering to State travel and professional development guidelines.
  • Experience with planning and scheduling.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Three (3) years of related office administration experience
  • Experience with Financial, Student, or Human Resources databases, such as Peoplesoft, etc.
  • Experience with Billing, and Collections
  • Experience with Customer Service
  • Experience adhering to state government procurement requirements
  • Experience in Accounting/Finance
Example of Job Duties:

Under the direction of the Director or Associate Director of Finance and Administrative Services, the Administrative Services Assistant is accountable for the effective performance in these essential functional areas :
  • Procurement and accounts payable.
  • Accounts Receivable and cashiering.
  • Scheduling events and facilities.
  • Inventory/asset management.
  • Payroll processing and labor contracts.
In addition to the accountabilities listed above, the incumbent is required to carry out the essential duties of Attendance and participation at convocation and commencement ceremonies; Service on assigned committees and task forces; Attendance and participation at committee, staff, and informational and professional meetings. These may involve attendance at evening or weekend events.

Starting Salary:

Anticipated Salary; $48,439 approximate annual plus excellent State of CT medical insurance, retirement, and related fringe benefits.

Selection Procedure:
