Our laboratory, part of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, focuses on investigating pathogenic pathways and finding novel therapeutic targets for genetic neurodegenerative and neuropsychiatric diseases, including schizophrenia, Huntington’s disease, spinocerebellar degenerative disorders. We make extensive use of cell and animal models and employ a variety of molecular and biochemical techniques. We are seeking a Research Technologist.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Molecular and biochemical assays on cells and rodent and human tissues. Tasks will include protein, RNA and DNA extraction and purification, cell transfection, Western blotting, immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence, and molecular cloning.
  • Cell culture involving multiple cell types, including iPSCs.
  • Potential role in structural biology project involving protein purification, grid preparation and cryEM
  • Assistance with routine lab operations, including ordering laboratory supplies, compliance with regulatory requirements, care and maintenance of laboratory equipment, and coordinating among laboratory research projects.
  • Perform miscellaneous related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Chemistry, or related field.
  • Some related post-undergraduate work experience preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Cryo-EM / structural biology experience highly desirable.
