The Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences Department is seeking a Research Program Coordinator who will handle coordination of research studies related to the assessment and treatment of anxiety disorders, OCD, Tourette’s Disorder, and related conditions. This role is responsible for participant recruitment, protocol implementation, data entry/management, and supporting the Principal Investigator in research-related activities (e.g., literature reviews, preliminary data analyses, manuscript preparation).

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

Research Recruitment

  • Create recruitment materials, initiate subject recruitment strategy, and monitor recruitment goals.
  • Complete telephone screening procedures, and independently administer and score screening tools.
  • Respond to phone and email inquiries in a timely fashion.
  • Keep records of advertising if indicated.
  • Maintain database of current, potential, and declined subjects.

Protocol Implementation

  • Compile and maintain IRB protocols.
  • Oversee and conduct data collection including administering structured and semi-structured interviews as well as computer tasks.
  • Administration of intelligence tests as needed.
  • Coordinate schedule and reminder calls for study visits, and preparation of study materials.

Data Management & Analysis

  • After data is obtained, review all forms for completeness and accuracy, and obtain clarification or corrections if necessary.
  • Maintain study records in an organized manner.
  • Train and supervise students or interns on data management.
  • Develop and maintain research databases.
  • Data cleaning and organization.
  • Assist with analyzing results and compiling findings.
  • Double data entry and data checking, including supervision of students and interns completing data entry.

Publication/Presentation/Grant Preparation Support

  • Support PI in preparing PowerPoint presentations, publications, progress reports, and grant applications emanating from this research.

Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):

    Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline. Some related experience. Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.*

* JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience.  Additional related experience may substitute for the required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

** Applicants who do not meet the posted requirements but are completing their final academic semester/quarter will be considered eligible for employment and may be asked to provide additional information confirming their academic completion date.

Preferred Qualifications:

    Master’s Degree in related discipline (e.g., Clinical Psychology, Social Work, Public Health, Experimental Psychology). Some clinical or research experience in a related discipline such as Psychology or Public Health. Some related research experience in child, adolescent, and/or young adult populations. Related experience in data collection, data management, and/or data analysis. Experience with administration of structured and semi-structured interviews and intelligence tests (e.g., WTAR, WASI).

Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    Knowledge/proficiency with statistical software (e.g., SPSS, SAS, STATA, MPLUS), and database management (e.g., developing databases in REDCap, Microsoft Access, or SPSS) is desirable.

Physical Requirements:

    Ability to stand, walk, or sit for an extended period of time. Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction. Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with whole hand(s), or arm(s), for example, using a keyboard. Communication skills using the spoken word. Ability to see within normal parameters. Ability to hear within normal range.

This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
