Project Management Associate



Summary

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced project manager to become part of a strategic team within one of the country’s top academic medical institutions. The Enterprise Project Management Associate will assist with project portfolio management and serve as a project manager on strategic projects for the Research Mission at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.

Baylor College of Medicine is a global leader in biomedical education, innovative research and cure discovery. The Research Mission leads and supports research activities across the College, which ranks 20th in the nation for funding from the National Institutes of Health.

The position is part of the Baylor Improvement Group (BIG) under the Office of the Chief Operating Officer. BIG leads the College’s project portfolio management and provides experienced project manager services. Projects supported by this role may include a wide range of strategic initiatives in alignment with 3-5 year executive goals to advance research at the College.

The ideal candidate will have experience in full-cycle project manager experience, preferably in a research administrative or academic medical environment.

This position is eligible to work a hybrid work arrangement.

Job Duties
  • Works with Research Mission leadership and project owners to execute project portfolio management, including project planning, linking projects to strategic goals, and progress reporting
  • Provides full-cycle project management services on multiple, concurrent projects tied directly to the Research Mission’s strategic goals. This includes project planning, execution and closure. These projects typically support strategic operational initiatives and do not include funded research projects such as wet and dry lab research.
  • Facilitates ongoing portfolio management for the Research Mission by meeting with project owners on a regular basis to define and update project status.
  • Trains and educates project owners and managers within the mission on project management skills
  • Works with project leadership to create successful project structures.
  • Facilitates project owners in understanding stakeholders and building project teams.
  • Provides change management practices to help improve adoption on projects.
  • Assists on efforts to build infrastructure needed at BCM to facilitate effective projects.
  • Provides assistance, when needed, on data analytics and process mapping for the Research Mission.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Two years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years of project management experience, preferably in an academic medical, pharmaceutical or biotechnology organization
  • Experience in research management or administration
  • Lean or PMI certifications
