Essential Functions (Job Duties)
The Department of Pharmacology at the Wayne State University School of Medicine (WSU-SOM) invites applications for a tenure track position at the Assistant Professor level. The Department of Pharmacology at WSU-SOM has a long-standing, outstanding reputation in cutting-edge scientific research in neuropharmacology, cellular pharmacology and environmental health and toxicity. A vibrant department comprising twenty primary faculty and various affiliates, Pharmacology prides itself in training and mentoring the next generation of scientists at undergraduate, graduate and postdoctoral levels. Another key component of the department is the mentoring of new and junior faculty who join our family.

Candidates for this position must have a PhD degree, or equivalent, in a relevant biomedical discipline with an outstanding postdoctoral record of high impact research achievements in their field. The ideal candidate is one who also has a demonstrable track record of external research funding and the mentorship of junior individuals. We seek candidates to develop a vigorous, independent research program with interests broadly relevant to cellular pharmacology with focus on health issues such as malignancies, neurological diseases, toxicology, or health disparities.

The successful candidate will join a highly dynamic and collegial academic setting and will receive a competitive start-up package, generous laboratory space, state-of-the-art core facilities, and an environment that supports multidisciplinary collaboration. The candidate will be expected to develop an innovative, externally funded research program, contribute to departmental activities, and demonstrate excellence in teaching and trainee mentorship in our graduate and medical programs
