Plan and implement a program appropriate for a designated group of young children and support a positive learning environment for college students.

Job Duties
Job duties include but are not limited to:

1. ASSIST IN THE COORDINATION OF THE DAILY OPERATION OF AN ASSIGNED CLASSROOM TO MEET BEST PRACTICES Performance is acceptable when: a. Guidelines for state licensing, national accreditation, and the federal food program are met. b. Classroom Coordinator is advised of equipment and supply needs. c. Classroom and outdoor play area are well-maintained.

2. PLAN AND IMPLEMENT A DEVELOPMENTALLY APPROPRIATE CURRICULUM FOR THE CHILDREN SERVED Performance is acceptable when: a. Lesson plans are written and posted daily, according to guidelines as outlined. b. Assessment on children is ongoing and current. c. Interactions with children are meaningful and respectful.

3. ESTABLISH RECIPROCAL RELATIONSHIPS WITH FAMILIES Performance is acceptable when: a. Families are greeted upon arrival and departure. b. Daily contact sheets are maintained on all children. c. Parent/Teacher conferences are held.

4. ASSIST IN THE COORDINATION OF STUDENTS AND VOLUNTEERS IN THE ASSIGNED CLASSROOM Performance is acceptable when: a. Best practices are role modeled. b. Feedback is provided to the Classroom Coordinator regarding comments/concerns about performance.

Duties and responsibilities, as required by business necessity, may be added, deleted or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing. Scheduling, shift assignments and work location may be changed at any time, as required by business necessity.


Required Qualifications
  • A current Child Development Associate (CDA) credential issued by the Council for Professional Recognition. OR A CDA Credential equivalent as defined by NAEYC as at least 12 college credits in early childhood education, child development, elementary education, or early childhood special education. OR An associate's degree (AA) in early childhood education, child development, elementary education, or early childhood special education

  • Experience with word processing and general computer use
  • Good interpersonal skills


    Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in early childhood education or related academic field with 20 hours in early childhood education and 16 hours of related coursework.
  • Three months' experience in a child care center or preschool
  • Experience with a similar age group of children as indicated by the position available
  • Experience in a nationally accredited center
