Job Details

Gettysburg College seeks a dynamic, innovative Master’s level candidate to serve in this 12-month, full-time position as the Assistant Director, Employer Engagement in the Center for Career Engagement. This position reports to the Executive Director and Director, External Relations.

Founded in 1832, Gettysburg College is consistently recognized nationally and ranks among the top colleges nationally for our value, programs, and liberal arts experience. Enrolling 2,400 undergraduate students from over 40 states and nearly 40 countries, Gettysburg College is known for its rigorous liberal arts and sciences education with a student experience that intentionally integrates learning that occurs inside and outside of the classroom. The Assistant Director will be joining the college at an exciting time with our newly adopted strategic plan, “Living Our Promise,” emphasizing the integration of both academic and co-curricular experiences with a strong emphasis on the career development of every student. In keeping with our strategic focus, Gettysburg College is interested in candidates who have demonstrated a commitment to providing leadership in building an inclusive, equitable, and diverse campus community.

The primary role of the Assistant Director, Employer Engagement is to maintain current initiatives while seeking out additional job and internship opportunities and connections for current students.

The Assistant Director, Employer Engagement will:

  • Reach out and respond to new, former, and current employer partners regarding opportunities and candidate sourcing.  Organize industry meetups throughout the year, bringing together employers and students to share in engagement, information, and networking.  Conduct outreach to faculty regarding classroom employer presence and partnering around opportunities and job market trends.  Manage the internship registration and funding assistance processes. Serve as the point person on the Handshake career management system with regards to students, alumni, employers, job listings, and event postings.

In addition to possessing a strong, student-centered approach, successful candidates will have knowledge of sourcing, recruiting, counseling, mentoring, advising, equity, and access. Successful candidates will be skilled at articulating the value of a liberal arts experience as it relates to employability.

Collaboration and teamwork are expected of the College Life staff. A successful candidate for the position will be expected to work cross-departmentally with colleagues in support of the overall student experience and should expect to contribute to work groups, committees, and projects outside of the core responsibilities of this position. Gettysburg believes cross-departmental involvement creates stronger teamwork, a better student experience, and professional development opportunities for staff.

A Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs Administration, College Student Personnel, Counseling, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred. Three years of experience in career development, employer relations, recruiting, or human resources are required, and a clear understanding of liberal arts education is preferred. Experience in sourcing employers and opportunities and managing a CRM is a plus. A demonstrated commitment to providing leadership in building an inclusive, equitable, and diverse campus community is required.
