Barnard College, an exceptional liberal arts college dedicated to empowering women to pursue their passions, seeks applications and nominations for an experienced individual to serve as Associate Provost, Institutional Research and Assessment. Reporting to the Provost of the College, the Associate Provost will lead the College’s newly amplified efforts to gather, evaluate, and analyze institutional data in support of its planning, assessment, and strategic decision-making efforts.

As the leader of the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment (IR&A), the next Associate Provost will be a vital partner to academic and administrative leaders across Barnard College, bringing a creative approach to institutional research and proactively providing urgent data, analysis, and research. They will serve as a thought partner to the Provost and the President by delivering policy and planning recommendations that further strategic goals. The Associate Provost will work closely with Barnard College Information Technology and serve as a key member of the Data Governance Council to strengthen and address data integrity, security, and risks. They will serve as a leader and expert regarding assessment efforts and will ensure timely and accurate completion of all external reporting obligations. Communication and management skills will be essential as the Associate Provost will need to work closely and effectively with partners and leaders across campus while also leading and supporting the three other members of IR&A. This is a critically important appointment for Barnard College, one that comes with a great opportunity to make an impact by expanding and accelerating institutional research and assessment efforts at the institution.

The successful candidate will possess analytical acumen, strong leadership and management skills, and at least ten years of progressively deeper responsibilities relating to both institutional research and assessment. The next Associate Provost will thrive in a fast-paced environment, equally able to work independently as well as collaborate with diverse constituents. They will be a strong communicator and relationship builder, proactively partnering with stakeholders across Barnard College, always with an understanding of and appreciation for Barnard’s mission to empower women through the liberal arts.
