SUMMARY:

The Director of Assessment leads and develops a comprehensive institutional assessment program to support the university's mission and strategic initiatives. The Director of Assessment designs, directs, and supports academic and administrative program reviews and related activities that demonstrate institutional effectiveness. More importantly, the Director of Assessment is responsible for creating a continuous, systemic, comprehensive vision that will coincide with institutional growth, program outcomes, and student success. The Director of Assessment will also provide critical assessment reporting to ensure successful compliance with programmatic, regional, and national accreditation standards. This position is remote.

KEY JOB ELEMENTS:

  • Oversees the university's external reporting, internal reporting and analysis in support of institutional assessment, planning, and decision-making.
  • Develops and establishes operating goals, policies, and procedures for the assessment office, as appropriate; recommends, implements, and administers methods and procedures to enhance operational effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Contributes to the university-wide integration of meaningful assessment processes and practices in support of student learning and institutional effectiveness.
  • Supports continuous academic program assessment (curricular and co-curricular activities) and improvement of student learning through consultation, and trainings.
  • Leads the development, organization, analysis and reporting of student learning outcomes and related activities to support planning activities.
  • Supports the ongoing development and implementation of comprehensive outcomes assessment programs for all academic and administrative units that support the goals the university's strategic plan.
  • Participates in the collection and analysis of various assessment data to support departmental accreditation and program reviews, including dissemination of results and assisting others with understanding and appropriately using them.
  • Interprets assessment findings and prepares an annual assessment report to summarize such findings, with particular emphasis on the quality of the assessment efforts and findings that influence institutional decision-making and policy development.
  • Provides strategic advice and consultation to leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of modifications and enhancements to existing operations, systems, and procedures.
  • Coordinates all assessment and institutional effectiveness activities needed for compliance purposes and for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) accreditation and other college-and/or program-level specialized accreditations.
  • Coordinates the administration and utilization of all institution-wide surveys and studies related to institutional assessment.
REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master's degree required in educational research, educational psychology, outcomes assessment, program evaluation.
  • PhD in education or equivalent field preferred.
  • Ten years minimum experience in the candidate's respective field is required
  • Must have demonstrable experience with quantitative and qualitative methods, evaluation design, database management, data analysis, and experience in design and validation of assessment instruments
  • Previous experience required in educational research and psychometrics
  • Preference will be given to candidates with education and/or experience in pharmacy, higher education accreditation processes, health professions education, Power BI, and/or project management training/experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and SPSS and/or SAS are required
ABILITY TO TRAVEL:

The individual must be able to travel out of the local area occasionally on an overnight basis as required to participate in a variety of conferences and meetings.
