Associate/Full Professor - CAED Program Coordinator

Position Summary

The Extension appointment will include performing functions as Extension Programs Coordinator for the Department and as Coordinator of the Center for Agribusiness and Economic Development ( CAED ), which is also part of AAE /Extension. Extension responsibilities also involve working closely with other extension and research faculty from AAE and related departments to sustain a nationally-recognized extension and applied research program that is highly relevant to some of the main crop and/or livestock commodities of the state of Georgia. While there will be an assignment of leadership for one or two commodities, it is also expected that the program will be flexible enough to collaboratively support other key commodities in the faculty member’s area(s) of expertise. Examples of specific Extension program responsibilities include, but are not limited to: providing timely information to county agents and producers, conducting county agent in-service trainings, developing and updating annual enterprise budgets, and conducting economic analyses of different issues and technologies. Participating in county meetings and working closely with County Extension Agents is also required. An applied research expectation comes along with the Extension appointment whereby the faculty member is expected to conduct and publish applied research results through refereed journal articles in applied economics and industry-related journals, peer-reviewed Extension bulletins, popular media articles and interviews, and other forms of communication to share expertise with policy makers, industry, and other constituents. The faculty member will also be expected to teach one class per academic year at the undergraduate/graduate level with the faculty member’s area(s) of expertise in conjunction with departmental needs and advise undergraduate and graduate students. A strong commitment to the department’s instructional programs and to excellence in teaching is expected of all faculty members. There is also an expectation of securing external funding to support graduate student research and the implementation of outreach programs. This is a full time, tenure track with 80% Extension and 20% teaching appointment split under a 9-month contract plus 2 months of summer salary. The hiring rank and tenure status will be determined based on the successful candidate’s experience and track record.
