POSITION DETAILS

The J. Max Bond Jr. Center for Urban Futures at the Bernard and Anne Spitzer School of Architecture at the City College of New York, founded in 2011, is dedicated to the advancement of design practice, education, research and advocacy in ways that build and sustain resilient and just communities, cities and regions.

The Center fosters collaboration and innovation, working with faculty, researchers, students, policy-makers, community leaders and practitioners representing the four disciplines of the Spitzer School - architecture, landscape architecture, and urbanism, in order to apply expertise and intervention to a wide variety of contemporary problems, challenges, and opportunities facing urban America. The Center will facilitate this exchange through programs in collaborative research and publication, a design laboratory, leadership development and education.

The Administrative Specialist will report to the Director of the Bond Center and will assist the Center’s Director with all aspects of the Center’s administration including policies and procedures; payroll, budgets and expenditures.

In addition to the CUNY title overview duties, responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

    Work with the Center’s Director with development of the Center’s program agenda and content Oversee the School of Architecture (SSA) faculty partners and students with projects and programs Work with the Director to establish and maintain office protocols and procedures for the Center’s administration, programs, projects, budget, fundraising, communications and public relations Participate in preparing funding proposals and applications Support the Center’s Director in project and grant administration services including personnel, fiscal and resource allocation, record keeping and correspondence Liaison with SSA staff as the day-to-day administrative contact regarding budget and funding sources with pertinent City College offices including the research foundation Maintain the center’s website, social media page, events calendar, posters, invitations, and announcements Oversee the Center’s process for storage of all records and communications pertinent to operation and project activities
QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree and four years' relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Four years' experience in architecture, urban design, planning, landscape architecture, public policy, urban affairs, environmental sciences or economic development is preferred. Strong writing skills, e.g., proposal writing, research reports, published articles and strong familiarity with web-based research is preferred. Experience with data driven approaches to human and urban challenges using geospatial, data analysis tools, statistical and quantitative analysis, urban informatics, urban modeling, coding (Python) or a combination thereof. Experience with web design and communications software; and Adobe Creative Suite. Some knowledge of GIS is a plus. Strong graphic design and desktop publishing skills, as well as familiarity with graphic software programs preferred. A Master's Degree in a relevant field of study is preferred.

The ideal candidate will be:

- Able to organize events and presentations of varying scopes and sizes

- Willing to attend meetings and engage in activities at a variety of hours and days, including evenings and weekends as may be necessary

- Able to supervise staff and project teams

Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.

Until further notice, this is a hybrid position, eligible to work remotely and work in the office.
