Job Description

The Mechanical Engineering Department in the College of Engineering, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida is seeking to fill a visiting position at the Assistant Professor level. The department seeks a candidate who can contribute to the department’s core mission of undergraduate education.

Primary responsibility will be teaching. Assigned teaching workload will be four sections per semester (Fall and Spring) with a typical class size of 24 to 35 students. Service and research are not requirements for this position, although opportunities may exist for interested candidates.

Qualifications

Candidates must hold a MS degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field; preference will be given to candidates who also hold a PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field. Candidates must be capable of teaching one or more of the following courses: Dynamics, Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, Fluid Dynamics, Machine Design, Instrumentation & Data Acquisition, Model-Based Control System Design, Mechatronics, Biofluid Mechanics, or Vehicle Aerodynamics. We seek candidates who will be active in the department and collaborate across the disciplines within the College of Engineering. The faculty candidate will be joining a diverse and collegial team of faculty in the Mechanical Engineering Department. We teach innovative engineering courses using evidence-based instruction, as well as conducting research in fields including: high performance vehicles, robotics & autonomous systems, biomedical systems, and energy systems. The Mechanical Engineering Department has over 400 undergraduate students as well as MS and PhD programs.
