Position Function
The marketing content specialist serves as a principal writer for Online and Strategic Learning—preparing copy for high-profile projects including intensive writing and storytelling components; composing and editing persuasive, accurate, engaging copy for a variety of audiences within a variety of media; developing and implementing content strategy; ensuring consistency with the university’s brand voice; and writing to meet enrollment or other business goals. Remote work arrangements can be considered – up to 100% remote.
Minimum Education
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
Minimum Experience
- Experience in advertising, copywriting/editing journalism, public relations, or related field.
- Demonstrated mastery of high-quality, professional-level concept development, copywriting, and editing, including experience writing, editing, and organizing content for websites, social media, and other electronic media.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated comfort level with learning new technologies.
Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
Preferred Education
Bachelor’s degree or higher in advertising, business, English, communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, communications, or related field.
Preferred Experience
- At least three years of professional communications experience in a public relations or advertising agency, journalistic organization, or a university environment.
- More than three years of related experience handling multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Experience or knowledge of adult learners.
- Experience with a CRM .
- Thorough knowledge of AP Stylebook.

Express the university brand through clear, persuasive, compelling copywriting; create original works for the purpose of accomplishing specific business objectives, including conceptualizing, writing, and/or editing (to include writing original copy, rewriting portions of client-prepared copy, or editing client prepared copy for content, tone, style, grammar, completeness, institutional messages and identity, harmony with communications plan objectives, and state and federal regulatory compliance); adapt writing appropriately depending upon media (Digital, print, social media, and scripts, for example); execute a wide range of styles depending upon intended audience, and tailoring copy appropriately for various external and internal audiences.
