Job Description

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Under moderate supervision, responds to the research and reporting needs of ACE Division, faculty, staff and Lone Star College administrators. Helps design, implement, and maintain computing applications, queries, reports, and databases to complete a variety of projects. Position generally works with moderate guidance from others and utilizes prior knowledge and training in the performance of their duties. Acts as a Subject Matter Expert for reporting questions and issues.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Gathers information and concepts from various sources, prepares and formats data and develops reports according to approved LSC Style Guide
  2. Utilizes multiple tools (Accutrack (SQL), PowerBi Brainfuse, iStar.etc.) to create report and analyze data
  3. Interprets reports and provides information to the department's leadership to support their decisions’ making process
  4. Evaluates effectiveness of reporting processes and makes procedural recommendations for process improvements
  5. Creates and delivers basic trainings on technology systems as needed
  6. Solve a range of problems from straightforward and direct to semi- complex such as technology issues; researches issues and recommends effective and efficient solutions. Escalates issues that are beyond the scope of this position to the appropriate area
  7. Assists in maintenance of the tracking system; analyzes results and reports for appropriate campus leadership
  8. Collaborates and communicates with various departments or with other LSC groups to collect information as needed
  9. Responsible for other reasonable duties as assigned


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Proficiency with PeopleSoft Campus Solutions and ability to perform query functions
  • Knowledge of current data analysis methodologies and tools
  • Knowledge of tracking systems and analytical tools; data science experience
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity, learn quickly, and adapt to changes
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills; strong attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task; ability to plan, organize, maintain detail orientation and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to interact and collaborate with diverse groups to deliver positive customer service and project outcomes
  • Must be solution-oriented


PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:

  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in a related field


Salary

Hourly Pay Rate is $17.5 .
