This is a Temporary position currently funded through June 30, 2023.

During the next year Portland Community College will be transitioning Willow Creek Center into an Opportunity Center with a strong connection to manufacturing opportunities with the college and community. Opportunity Centers are designed to reverse racial and economic disparities by providing career and education preparation and wrap-around support. Potential students include adults returning to education after job loss, English language learners, student parents, first-generation students, community members from historically oppressed populations including immigrants and refugees, and others facing barriers to higher education. All who want to learn are welcomed and PCC will meet them where they are.

Community Workforce Development is hiring one temporary grant funded position that will facilitate and teach a new 10 day training, "Quick Start to Semi-conducting," offered through Willow Creek Center Mechatronics Lab. It is anticipated that each cohort will consist of 15 students looking to obtain entry level employment with local manufacturing employers. The course will introduce students to fundamental skills needed for success as well as hands on experience handling tools and operating manufacturing equipment they might encounter within the industry. The curriculum is being finalized and it is anticipated that the first cohort will begin in late summer with a goal of training 75 students.

Candidate Profile

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Semiconducting industry and ability to translate into effective programming.
  • Ability to train students on how to operate pneumatic, fabrication and electrical trainers.
  • Experienced in developing curriculum, facilitating groups and instructing utilizing effective training techniques and adult learning theory.
  • Experienced delivering public presentations both in person and over video.
  • Demonstrated experience working with an ethnically, racially, and culturally diverse population.
  • Demonstrated experience in recognizing opportunity and collaborating effectively within the department, across PCC and with external partners.
  • Demonstrated skill in operating a computer and various supporting software packages.
Minimum Qualifications

To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Manufacturing, Engineering, Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Social Science, Communications, or related field. (experience performing the duties of this job may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis).

Two (2) years of professional experience in an educational or training environment is required.
Demonstrated experience working with college students, individuals from low-income communities, developmentally or physically disabled adults, or at-risk populations.

Position Grade 4 Starting Salary Expectations $53,461 to $57,272 (Step 3); based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity. Position Grade Salary Range $53461 to $92706 Annual Salary FTE 1 PCC Benefits

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Occasional evening and weekend hours are required. Work is typically performed in an office/classroom environment both on-site and off-site. Incumbents regularly travel between campuses and remote sites, requiring the ability to drive and use of personal vehicle.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Moderate physical exertion. Frequent standing or walking. Occasional lifting of equipment used in training that may weigh up to 30 lbs.
