Job Summary:

Under the supervision of a Mental Health Leadership Team Member, the Embedded Mental Health Provider at the School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH) provides mental health services and outreach programming to students of various identities and needs in the SMPH. In addition to direct mental health services, this provider will develop collaborative consultation and liaison relationships with SMPH personnel.

Principal duties:
Direct Clinical Service (65%):
Required Direct Clinical Services:
-Provides individual and group therapy services to students, primarily in the School of Medicine and Public Health;
-Provides drop-in consultation services to SMPH students;
-Provides outreach services including programming, consultations, and trainings;
-Participates in the provision of clinical crisis services and on call mental health services (during business hours);
-Responds to campus crises;
-Demonstrates a commitment to diversity, equity & inclusion, and to serving under-represented and under-served populations.
Additional options for Direct Clinical Services may include:
1) Provides couple/partner therapy services.
2) Provides services in a language other than English;
3) Provides supervision of assigned trainees including goal setting, evaluations, and disciplinary action in accordance with training policy and procedures;
4) Develops teaching and/or consultation relationships with the staff of SMPH;
5) Administers and interprets limited assessment measures.

Administrative Duties (35%):
-Maintains accurate and timely documentation for all clinical interactions and clinical consultations;
-Participates in the development and implementation of programs and services related to mental health/wellness at the SMPH.
-Collaborates with providers and staff in UHS units, the SMPH, and with other campus partners.
-Follows agency policies and procedures consistent with state mental health statutes, ethical guidelines, best practices, HIPAA, and FERPA;
-Attends staff and workgroup meetings;
-Attends MH sponsored professional development activities;
-Serves on internal and external committees at both UHS and the SMPH;
-As resources allow, represents UHS on the UW-Madison Campus, in the Madison community, and with local, regional, and national professional organizations; and
-Other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:

Provides direct clinical services to patients and clients in a clinical, research, education, or public health and safety setting. Engages in the full range of psychological services including assessment (psycho-diagnostic and psychological assessment services), evaluation, consultation and/or psychotherapy to promote the mental health and well-being of patients.
  • 10% Performs patient psycho-diagnostic, psychological assessments and evaluations
  • 10% Identifies patient psychological disorders and emotional patterns to understand and predict behavior
  • 5% Assesses safety risks and develops safety plans for at-risk individuals
  • 50% Develops, implements, and monitors individual and group psychological treatment programs with clinical staff and physicians
  • 20% Completes clinical treatment reports in accordance with department and agency guidelines
  • 5% May provide expertise, training, and guidance to the community, peers, and/or students

Education:

Required
Terminal Degree
Doctoral degree in Counseling psychology or Clinical Psychology

Qualifications:

Strongly preferred experiences of the candidate include:
-Experience in an interdisciplinary college mental health treatment setting;
-Experience in brief intervention and mental health crisis assessment,
-Experience providing group therapy;
-Experience in consultation and collaboration with campus and community partners or provision of campus-based services/outreach;
-Experience with electronic health record systems;
-Demonstrated attentiveness to intersectionality & health disparities, a commitment to diversity, equity, & inclusion, and to serving under-served/under-represented populations;
-Supervision of trainees;
-Experience participating in quality improvement initiatives;
-Experience participating in multidisciplinary teams including medical providers and/or academic faculty/staff

License/Certification:

Preferred
PSY - Psychologist - State Licensure
License to practice independently in the State of Wisconsin preferred. License to practice independently required within one year of hire.
