THIS POSITION IS FUNDED VIA MULTIPLE GRANTS. EMPLOYMENT IS CONTINGENT UPON CONTINUED FUNDING FROM GRANT PROVIDERS. Position is located in Athens, Ohio Individual sought to support the Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Service’s applied research in environmental areas. The Voinovich School works to find solutions to challenges facing communities, the economy, and the environment. As a key member of multidisciplinary project teams within the School and with external partners, this position will support laboratory operations, field data collection, management of undergraduate student activities, communications with campus and community partners, and educational workshops for several projects that evaluate management strategies for organic wastes and agriculture. Data collection and analysis will include sampling of soil, plants, wastes, and gases. Educational workshops will include K-12 audiences as well as business audiences. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining laboratory equipment and protocols, training graduate students, preparing educational materials, and assisting with grant report writing. Candidate must be highly self-motivated and able to work collaboratively within multiple project teams as well as work independently. Qualified candidates will have the ability to utilize database and software programs to organize, manage and analyze data, interpret findings, and prepare grant reports. Selected candidate will be expected to move multiple tasks forward simultaneously, engage in client outreach activities and STEM education as well as communicate effectively with project sponsors. The ideal candidate must have a high attention to detail and should have the ability to draw information from multiple sources to identify potential solutions for identified issues; skills in collecting data for tracking and reporting of project outcomes; ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and perspectives to accomplish project goals; ability to establish and maintain collegial relationships with senior management, co-workers, project sponsors; ability to accurately communicate verbally and in writing to technical and non-technical audiences including project sponsors, stakeholders and other professionals; and the ability to travel to counties to meet with project stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in a field such as behavioral sciences, social sciences, hard sciences, education, or other related field AND at least 3 years of work history of any type. Access to reliable home internet to support remote work when needed. Driver’s license and ability to travel. Ability to work evenings and weekends if necessary to meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with field and laboratory protocols for measuring plant samples, soil samples, and greenhouse gas fluxes from soil; training in and working knowledge of agriculture, waste management systems, sustainability, and anaerobic digestion; experience operating an elemental analyzer and/or a gas chromatograph with multiple columns; experience designing, building and maintaining custom equipment; demonstrated success with peer-reviewed publication and attracting grant funding; experience creating and conducting outreach and education materials and activities; coding, modeling, and GIS skills are a plus.
