Visiting Assistant Professor - Data & Society - (FAC002433)



The Honors College at the University of Houston invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor to assist in developing a new interdisciplinary minor ( Data & Society ) that brings community-engaged humanities approaches to the study and teaching of data science. Applications are sought from teaching faculty in the social studies of science, science, technology, anthropology of science, history of science, digital humanities, or interdisciplinary humanities disciplines.

The successful applicant would be expected to collaborate on digital projects, including digital humanities and co-curricular community-engaged science projects. The Data & Society minor uses an innovative project-based curriculum, culminating in capstone projects led by students in community or other interdisciplinary settings. The successful applicant would need to demonstrate the willingness and capacity to oversee projects beyond the classroom and in community settings. Experience conducting quantitative and mixed methods approaches, including program evaluation and assessment in education or community settings, is expected, and facility with an ability to communicate data science principles to non-technical audiences is required.
