Basic Function:
Under the direction and supervision of the Director of the Center for Nonprofit Leadership (CNL), the senior program specialist is responsible for providing program leadership over the CNL programmatic activities including curriculum and learning objective design, volunteer engagement, managing open enrollment workshops, and providing team leadership and oversight to CNL strategic initiatives. Additionally, the senior program specialist will develop and maintain strong relationships with University colleagues, nonprofit organizations and leaders serving the region.

Representative Duties:
WORKSHOPS & INITIATIVE PROGRAMMING
  • Coordinate the overall design of each training cycle including planning, developing, and implementing all Center open enrollment workshops and strategic initiatives.
  • Facilitate and co-facilitate capacity building programs, workshops and networking events, including designing curriculum, exercises and supplemental learning materials.
  • Provide direct staff leadership on scheduling, workshop planning, drafting promotional language and learning objectives, creating registration pages, fee and expense processing, materials management, logistics and coordination, day of event set-up and clean-up. E
  • Oversee development and revision/streamlining of promotional materials and hardcopy/online registration systems. Promote increased use of online registration system among workshop registrants. E
  • In collaboration with the Director and informed by the Program Design Committee, design and co/design programming throughout the year. E
  • Serve as lead staff in the implementation and evaluation of Center programming including venue selection, logistics and coordination, faculty coordination and support, development/procurement of learning materials, evaluation methodology and necessary course corrections. E
  • Assess the on-going capacity building needs of local nonprofit leaders via existing methods (course evaluations, periodic surveys, word of mouth, submissions via website and annual community needs assessment). E
  • Analyze workshop attendance and recommend program improvements. E
  • In partnership with Program Specialist, responsible for membership and program registration financial targets, including new and renewed memberships. E



VOLUNTEER RECRUITMENT, RETENTION & ENGAGEMENT
  • Recruit, onboard, coordinate and support workshop facilitators, including preparing facilitators for the in-person and virtual classroom (e.g. secure handouts, learning materials, and attendee rosters, introducing faculty at workshops and post-workshop follow-up). E
  • Maintain individual facilitator profiles and facilitator directory by subject matter. E
  • Design and coordinate on-going professional development for CNL facilitator corps.

SPONSORSHIPS & PROGRAM PARTNERSHIPS
  • Assess service learning opportunities in concert with Cal Lutheran and other institution faculty and design programs that engage students and nonprofit leaders. E
  • Coordinate external program partnerships with regional capacity building partners.
  • Seek financial support for innovative and pilot service learning, capacity building and leadership development programs for the region’s nonprofit sector. E

GENERAL PROGRAM SUPPORT
  • Provide staff support and coordination of the CNL Program Design Committee. E
  • Track workshop attendees and prepare monthly and quarterly reports on utilization trends. E
  • As needed, collaborate and interface with other University departments, such as Campus Services and University Advancement.
  • Secure onsite and offsite meeting arrangements, including offsite rental fees and catering. E
  • Maintain CNL master calendar of all events, individual and collective calendars and all meeting, advisory board and committee dates and requests. E
  • Be flexible and available as necessary for occasional evening/after-hours events and workshops. E
  • Travel between main campus, satellite campuses and community venues throughout the region. Approximately 100 mile radius. E
  • Supervise student workers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Any combination equivalent to: a bachelor’s degree and 3 years of program leadership and/or office management experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
5+ years program experience in the nonprofit sectorBi-lingual (English and Spanish) isa plus

Licenses and Other Requirements:
Valid Driver’s LicenseOccasional evenings required
