Clinical Assistant Professor of Behavioral Health Psychology

Starting Date: July 1, 2022

Description:

The Masters of Science in Behavioral Health Psychology Program seeks a new colleague to join us in preparing the next generation of behavioral health professions to be professional counselors or competitive psychology PhD candidates. The ideal candidate brings deep clinical practice and supervision experience to teaching, learning, and psychological practice. This candidate may develop and teach courses in family and partner psychotherapy, vocational psychology, counseling skills, and courses addressing human development across the lifespan. Other courses reflecting candidate interest will be considered. Special consideration will be granted to applicants with strong statistics and research methods knowledge.

This 12-month, full-time appointment includes teaching (60%), practice (20%), and program and university service requirements (20%).

Responsibilities:

• Teach master's level core courses in the Behavioral Health Psychology program that include but are not limited to those focused on clinical practice and supervision.
• Collaborate with colleagues to design and implement curriculum.
• Maintain a clinical practice at clinical partner organization as needed by the program or program partners.
• Serve a graduate student advisor.
• Model faculty citizenship through active program service and a commitment to justice, inclusion, and equity.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Earned PhD/EdD/PsyD degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA accredited doctoral training program.
• License eligible as a psychologist in the state of Wisconsin; required to be licensed within 12-mos of hire.
• 2+ years of demonstrated clinical supervision experience.
• Postsecondary level teaching experience in-person or hybrid
• A person with a commitment to justice, inclusion, and equity and the ability to embed relevant practices as a teacher, student advisor, and colleague.

Preferred:

• Demonstrated program development experience.
• Interest in conducting and/or supervising original empirical research.
• Clinical practice experience beyond the post-doctoral supervised clinical hours.

The School of Education and Human Services: The Department of Human Services is housed in the new School of Education and Human Services (SEHS). The school, in its inaugural year, builds on the rich legacy and tradition of outstanding undergraduate and graduate education programs. In addition to the many programs in the Department of Education, the school looks forward to growing to meet the educational and professional needs of the community and begins with the addition of a Master of Science in Behavioral Health Psychology beginning in the Fall 2021.

The Program: The Behavioral Health Psychology Program is the inaugural program of the Department of Human Services. The BHP program trains license and non-license eligible masters graduates to meet the evolving mental health needs of our community and beyond through practice, research, and advocacy. Inspired by the scientist-practitioner model, graduates view clients and systems from a biopsychosocial lens, with cultural humility, and critically evaluate and apply psychological science toward a holistic understanding of behavior and change.
