Working Conditions
  • Office. This is a student- and faculty-facing job that requires a significant on-campus presence (typically at least 3-4 days per week, depending on the academic calendar).

Position Description
  • Advises undergraduates (primarily first-year and sophomore students) on how to identify and apply for undergraduate research opportunities, particularly in the life sciences
  • Helps students develop resumes and cover letters for applying to research opportunities, including on-campus, off-campus, and abroad
  • Collects and disseminates information on research funding and housing options for undergraduate researchers on-campus, including during winter break and summer
  • Coordinates with relevant Harvard offices to develop programming and funding mechanisms for undergraduate science research
  • Coordinates and supports the administration of summer undergraduate research programs, such as REU programs, in the Division of Science
  • Develops and updates informational materials, including a researcher database and web pages, to assist undergraduate researchers in finding research opportunities and funding, especially in the life sciences
  • Organizes events, including a multi-campus science research fair, to help undergraduates explore research areas and find research mentors and funding
  • Documents and assesses outcomes of advising, programming, and events
  • Introduces pre-concentrators to relevant concentration resources and advisors in the life sciences and physical sciences
  • Assists faculty in publicizing open post-baccalaureate science research assistant positions
