Job Description
Assist the Camp Director with programming and implementing age-appropriate daily activities for camp participants.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist Camp Director with planning, scheduling, programming and
implementation of scheduled activities for participants.
- Lead a group of youth ranging from 5-13 years of
age.
- Lead and supervise children during activities (recreational,
wellness, character education).
- Lead pre-planned activities.
- Ensure the safety and care of summer camp participants
throughout the duration of the camp.
- Ensure the proper use and care of equipment.
- Assist with the morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up of
summer camp participants.
- Assist and participate in camp wide programs.
- Act as a positive role model for all campers.
- Provide emergency care to campers as needed.
- Provide feedback to campers and parents.
- Participate in evaluation of camp at the end of each
session.
- Provide feedback to make programming more effective.
- Work closely, as needed, with other Recreational Sports
Department employees and administration.
- Be a supportive team player and leader for the Recreational
Sports Summer Camp.
- Responsible for maintaining current
certification(s)/licensure(s) required as a condition of employment
and providing valid and legitimate proof of
certification(s)/licensure(s) to the supervisor prior to the
expiration date(s) of certification(s)/licensure(s).
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Education - High school graduate or equivalent.
Licensing / Professional Certification - Must obtain CPR/AED certification within two weeks of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a summer youth camp setting.
- Experience in Recreational programming
- CPR/AED certification.
- Billingual (English/Spanish) skills.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Ability to:
- Lead a group of children ranging in ages 5 - 13.
- Act as a positive role model for all campers.
- Be a supportive member of the program and leader for the
Recreational Sports Summer Camp.
- Work closely with other Recreational Sports employees, as
needed.
Other Information:
- This position is not funded with state
appropriations.
- Position will require participation in all CAMP
activities.
- Position is temporary, subject to funding and/or need, with an
effective end date of July 29, 2022.
Hourly Pay Rate: $9.00
