Quinnipiac University's School of Health Sciences invites applications for a Full-Time Clinical Faculty and Director of Didactic Education: Physician Assistant Studies (School of Health Sciences). This is a full-time, 12-month clinical faculty position (non-tenure-track), reporting to the Chair/Program Director of the Physician Assistant Department.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide oversight of the didactic curriculum and coordination of the schedule with course coordinators in planning, sequencing, and course content for the didactic year
  • Curriculum development, assessment, mapping, and revision
  • Develop and maintain didactic course syllabi including learning objectives, expected competencies, and student responsibilities
  • Develop and assess evaluation tools for students
  • Advise students in the didactic phase
  • Establish remedial instruction
  • Admissions with a focus on student recruitment and retention
  • Lecture, facilitate small groups, and laboratory education
  • Teaching in the graduate program courses at the need of the department and discretion of the Department Chair/Program Director
  • Participate in scholarly activity in health science and health science education.
  • Participation and coordination of Physician Assistant department committees including chairing the Didactic Curriculum Review Committee
  • Ensuring ARC-PA standards are met through didactic instruction
  • Continuously mapping back the curriculum to ARC-PA standards and NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) -PANCE (Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination) blueprint
  • Ongoing self-assessment of the program
  • Participate in university service
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Department Chair/Program Director


Education Requirements:

  • A doctoral degree is preferred
  • Graduation from an accredited U.S. physician/physician assistant program


Qualifications:

  • Current board/NCCPA certification and eligibility for licensure in the State of Connecticut
  • A minimum of 3 years fulltime teaching experience in PA education
  • Administrative ability to manage the didactic educational components
  • Familiarity with the accreditation process and requirements
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong critical thinking, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate as a team member
  • Competence and ability to develop requisite knowledge of computers, technology, and software to perform assigned tasks
  • Experience with ExamSoft is preferred
  • Demonstrable leadership abilities, including responsibility and self-motivation
  • The ability to collaborate with students, staff, and faculty within/out the department
  • Commitment to contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community
