Director of Student Life
Georgia State University College of Law in Atlanta is seeking to hire a full-time Director of Student Life. This is a full-time staff position, reporting to the Associate Dean for Student Success Programs & Strategic Enrollment Management. The Director of Student Life will supervise comprehensive engagement programs that promote a sense of community and further the mission of the College of Law. This position manages student support services and group programs; provides leadership training and financial management for student organizations; develops student leadership programs; plans orientation, honors day, commencement and other student programs.
General Job Functions/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Advises students with personal, non-academic problems, and serves as a liaison between students and other University Departments, such as Financial Aid and Student accounts.
- Acts as a liaison between students, the law school, and university administration regarding student life issues.
- Ensures opportunities for students to participate in co-curricular student experiences which promote social, cultural, multicultural, intellectual, recreational, community service, and student governance.
- Supervises the Student Bar Association and provides oversight for individual student organizations, including programming that promotes community building, academic enhancement, and career development.
- Navigates complex issues that may arise with programs or conflicts within or across student organizations.
- Manages accommodations and veteran support services.
- Manages logistical support for the Pro Bono Recognition Program.
This position may require work beyond regularly scheduled hours to accommodate evening students and special events. Review of applicants will begin immediately.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a related field and six years of supervisory/management experience; or a combination of education and related experience.

Preferred Hiring Qualifications:
Successful candidates will have a J.D. degree from an ABA accredited law school or other graduate degree; two or more years of post-law school experience or higher education experience; strong writing, research, and analytic skills. Strong communication and public speaking skills. Ability to build rapport with a diverse population of students, faculty, and staff. Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive community. Demonstrated ability to exercise sound, ethical, and professional judgment.
