The University of West Florida, School of Education invites applications for the full-time position of Assistant Professor with a specialization in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) and Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL). This is a nine-month, tenure-earning position. The position location is Pensacola, Florida.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. from an accredited institution in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), Second Language Acquisition, or a closely related discipline with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service.
Candidates are expected to have a research agenda that guides their scholarship related to TESOL and CALL. Candidates will be expected to teach classes designed to prepare pre-service teachers particularly in the area of TESOL certification; mentor graduate students; conduct research and scholarly activities in areas of expertise; and serve on university, college, and department committees. Exhibiting a commitment to diversity, high impact teaching practices, and community engagement is expected.
The successful candidate will have expertise in designing, implementing, and evaluating diversity experiences for pre-service teachers; teaching English Language Learners; and experience in working with diverse student populations. Additionally, the successful candidate will have expertise in the applications of technology in language teaching and learning, differentiated instruction and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) concepts.
