Minimum $18.00 Maximum $28.00 HOURLY

Sign-on Bonus of 5% of base pay (based on FTE) to be paid over the first year of employment (Minimum of $1,800+ for Veterinary Technicians)!

Job Summary:

Are you looking to expand your knowledge and specialize your technical skills? This role will support both the small animal primary care and cardiology services. Make a real difference in patients' and their owners' lives! Requires the ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs. independently and physical and manual dexterity to perform specialized technical tasks. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

1) Oversees/guides workflow in area focusing on special patient needs.
2) Anticipates needs of clinicians in cardiology and primary care.
3) Participates in case overviews to better access and direct technical patient support.
4) Develops knowledge and responsibility in area of specialization to include maintenance of special equipment, instructing others in use and care, assisting clinician/students in procedures.
5) Participates in the teaching and learning functions of UWVC.

Tasks:
  • Responsible for independently and proficiently performing technical responsibilities to provide quality patient care in support of the daily operational needs of the Cardiology and Primary Care Services
  • Participates in the instructional needs of the teaching hospital as needed
  • Responsible for maintaining equipment and adequate inventory of area supplies and cleanliness of facility
  • Participates in recordkeeping and billing procedures
  • Participates in on-call shifts as required by the hospital
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

This position is posted at Vet Tech levels 1, 2 and 3. Level is determined by qualifications based on type of prior veterinary tech experience.

To qualify for Level 1: Entry level, new CVT grad or awaiting to sit for the CVT exam, or some CVT working experience with no specialization.

To qualify for Level 2: Generally over 2 years of veterinary tech experience, may substitute years of experience for specialization.

To qualify for Level 3: Veterinary Tech Specialist (VTS), or highly qualified and specialized in a specific area, may have prior experience from another university hospital.

License/Certification:

Preferred
CVT - Certified Veterinary Technician
Or elgible to obtain within 12 months

Work Schedule:

Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm, with one hour break; Schedule subject to change based on operational needs

May include some weekend, on-call, and holiday shifts, as required by the hospital.

This position has the potential to become a permanent placement, based on operational need and hospital finances.

Work Type:

Full Time: 100%

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Appointment Type, Duration:

Terminal, 24 month appointment.
This position has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding
