Job Summary:

The Dissemination and Implementation (D&I) Launchpad Team is part of the UW Institute for Clinical and Translational Research within the School of Medicine and Public Health ( https://ictr.wisc.edu/dissemination-implementation-launchpad/ ). We support junior and senior researchers with tools, resources, and guidance to help them move their research findings from experimental settings into clinical and community practice ('translating' research into practice). As a nationally recognized program in dissemination and implementation science, the D&I Launchpad contributes to this growing and innovative field, collaborating with research teams to bridge the gap between research and practice.

D&I Launchpad seeks a D&I Scientist to join its vibrant team. The successful candidate will contribute to the program growth by collaborating with researchers on a variety of projects. This includes consulting with investigators and their teams on the application of D&I innovations to study design and research methods, leading the process of identifying barriers and facilitators of translational research with research teams and their stakeholders, and developing recommendations to enhance and expedite implementation activities. The Scientist will also work with design thinking experts to train research teams and research networks in innovation development, collaborate on grant applications, and author publications. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, highly organized, capable of advancing multiple projects, skilled in collaborating with other campus units engaging in D&I, and thrive in a fast paced environment.

The D&I Launchpad team includes faculty, scientists, business consultants, and communications professionals. The Scientist works under the direction of the D&I Launchpad Assistant Director.

Responsibilities:

Identifies research problems, designs research methodologies, performs research, and prepares and/or presents results for presentation to professional organizations or for scholarly publications to help advance research.
  • 10% Identifies research problems and develops complex research methodologies and procedures
  • 20% Collects and analyzes complex research data, conducts experiments and interviews, and documents results according to established policies and procedures under general supervision
  • 10% Conducts literature reviews, prepares reports and materials, and disseminates information to appropriate entities
  • 10% Attends and assists with the facilitation of scholarly events and presentations in support of continued professional development and the dissemination of research information
  • 10% Writes or assists in developing grant applications and proposals to secure research funding
  • 5% May supervise the day-to-day activities of a research unit as needed
  • 10% Serves as a unit subject matter expert and liaison to internal and external stakeholders providing advanced level information and representing the interests of a specialized research area
  • 5% Monitors program budget and approves unit expenditures
  • 20% Contributes to D&I Launchpad program such as Design Thinking and Community Engagement research, including development of implementation and dissemination materials

PhD or other terminal degree

Qualifications:

Minimum Required Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:
-Minimum two years of research experience required, preferably related to Dissemination and Implementation (D&I) science in the healthcare field, public health, social work, industrial and systems engineering, or related field
-Knowledge and/or experience with D&I study designs, models, and frameworks
-Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods, analysis and stakeholder engagement

Preferred Skills, Experience, Qualifications:
-Experience with report and/or manuscript writing, including publishing peer-reviewed articles in the field of implementation science
-Experience contributing to successful grant proposals
-Experience providing consultations to investigators on D&I research methods
-Experience training or mentoring faculty, staff, and trainees in D&I methods
-Knowledge of health equity research

-Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain relationships with researchers, clinicians, study participants, and community stakeholders
