The University of Maine at Augusta is seeking applicants for the full-time position of Dean of Students. This is a full-time, regular, fiscal year appointment.

Reporting to the Vice President of Academic Affairs/Provost, the Dean of Students serves as a student advocate and collaborates with other departments to enhance student enrollment, success, persistence, and graduation. This position oversees and coordinates activities for the Division of Student Development. The Dean collaborates with the Conduct Officer to advise students of their rights and responsibilities related to the UMS Student Code of Conduct and the UMA Student Conduct procedures. This position administers the UMA student grievance procedures and assists with resolving student concerns regarding policies, procedures, and employees. The Dean oversees the design and delivery of new student orientation programs and the distribution of publications. The Dean provides consultation to faculty, staff, and administration on a broad range of federal and UMS policies and procedures. This position serves on a variety of standing committees and represents UMA on system-wide student committees and events. This position can be based out of either the Augusta or Bangor campus

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Student Personnel or another appropriate discipline
  • Three to five years of experience in the administration of student support services at the college level
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of UMA's administrative team
  • Experience in working with "non-traditional" students
  • Computer literacy


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctorate Degree or enrolled in a doctoral program
  • College teaching experience
  • Experience with distance education and/or delivery of support services to distance students


Work Schedule:  Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, evenings and weekends as necessary.
