Job Description

The Department of Biomedical Sciences and Pathobiology in the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a Clinical-Track or Tenure-Track faculty position in Anatomic Pathology at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor. The candidate will join a team of five board certified anatomic pathologists and duties will include: providing diagnostic pathology service (including surgical biopsy and necropsy duty); teaching in the DVM professional program; training pathology residents, which includes teaching in graduate level pathology courses and participating in histopathology rounds; and independent or collaborative research commensurate with the candidate’s appointment. The necropsy and biopsy services are part of Virginia Tech Animal Laboratory Services (ViTALS), an AAVLD accredited diagnostic laboratory, whose clients include the Veterinary Teaching Hospital and veterinary clinics in the surrounding region. Evidence of a research and publication track record is encouraged, ideally in a research focus area of the college which includes: a) Infectious Diseases, b) Inflammatory/regulatory disorders (including cancer) or c) Translational/regenerative medicine. There will be opportunities to develop independent and collaborative research programs within and outside the College of Veterinary Medicine including at various life sciences-oriented Institutes.

DVM or equivalent and diplomate of ACVP or ECVP (or board eligible)

A PhD in the area of biomedical sciences is preferred
