General summary/purpose:

Position will be responsible for all Windows Servers that support the ACH and the Epic environment. This includes approximately 400-500 servers that support approximately 15,000 customers.

Specific duties & responsibilities:

This position will represent organizational IT in meetings related to IT policies and procedures for all ACH and Epic Windows server projects. This positon will manage customer relationships and the satisfaction of the customer through adherence to service level agreements. This position will create and promote a culture of excellent customer service. It will maintain relationships with the customer base to better understand their needs and address organizational goals. This position will establish and maintain ties with colleagues throughout the institution to ensure optimal collaboration and coordination of effort. Will maintain relationships with technology vendors to advance the goals of the Windows server environment. This position will make sure that the servers that are managed by their team meet all security policies and procedures and they will help find ways to advance the technical security knowledge of the team.

Specific devices, software, projects for which the position is responsible:

This position will be responsible for managing an environment that is made up of virtual server and storage infrastructure. The management of this infrastructure will be complex because these servers can use resources that reside in Florida, Maryland and the Cloud. One server environment may use all three of these different environments to present a solution. These environments must be built to support complex applications so that they are reliable, flexible, easily expandable, security compliant and tolerant. Customers will expect 24x7x365 support and quick attention and resolution to any problems.

Scale/size of area, project and/or system supported

This position will manage System Engineer/System Administrator positions that are responsible for approximately 400-500 Windows servers that support approximately 15,000 users within the Hopkins environment. The systems that will be supported are wide and varied. From clinical to financial to customer supporting systems. They will vary in complexity but they will all be seen as high priority systems with strict uptime requirements. Some of the customers and engineering staff will be located in St Petersburg, Florida but the majority will be in Maryland. Hardware infrastructure will be in St Petersburg, in the central IT data center in Baltimore and/or in the Cloud. This positon will need to manage this geographical difference of almost 1,400 miles.

Minimum qualifications (mandatory):

  • A bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible related experience.
  • 2 years of supervisory/lead experience is preferred.
  • Additional directly related experience may substitute for education.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Applicants must possess proven written, verbal and interpersonal skills and must be able to exercise judgment with minimal supervision.
  • They must have advanced experience with the range of supported technologies.
  • Project management experience is desirable.

High level knowledge of all technologies within area of responsibility. Track record of collaboration with peers, colleagues and lower level staff. Proven ability to prioritize work and ensure projects and workloads are completed on time while maintaining high morale. Ability to prioritize conflicting demands. Excellent written and oral communications skills. Politically aware and able to maintain confidentiality. Demonstrated excellent customer service skills.
