LSC-Westway Park Technology Center, a satellite center of LSC-CyFair, is located between Clay and Tanner roads off the Sam Houston Tollway. This center will focus on LSC-CyFair’s Visual Communication and Information Technology workforce training programs with certificates and degrees in areas such as Cisco and Microsoft Networking, Cyber Security, Computer Forensics, Graphic and Web Design, and 3D animation.

Job Description



PURPOSE AND SCOPE :

The PT Coordinator I, CISCO Lab is responsible for coordination of general functions in a laboratory environment. Functions include coordination of open lab services and events, as well as researching and/or purchasing of materials. May be responsible for tracking of laboratory equipment, rooms and other items and/or services related to the laboratory .

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :

1. Assists faculty and/or staff to create C isco Academy open lab schedules

2. Assists students in lecture and/or lab cour sework within the Cisco Academy

3. Maintains inventory and quality assurance of all lab items, includi ng cataloguing an d labeling of all lab materials

4. Directs an d monitors lab safety protocols

5. Directs the proper disposal of all non-functions electrical and el ectronic equipment and supplies

6. Communica tes with faculty regarding labs

7. Analyzes and im proves practices and procedures

8. Keeps current with new tech nologies and safety regulations

9. Maintains a professional working relationships, both within the System and with outside vendors

10. Networks with individuals in other divisions and departments

11. Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge and experience with Cisco routers, switches, serial cards, T1 cards, FXO cards, and making of Ethernet cables
  • Knowledge and experience with various software including Cisco IOS, SDM and CCP, wireshark, hyperterminal, putty, and tftp
  • Knowledge and experience with various networking skills such as subnetting of RFC1918 addresses, configuring OSPF, RIPv2 and EIGRP routing protocols
PHYSICAL ABILITIES :

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:
  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
  • May involve working evenings and weekends
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or GED and at least 1 year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associate's degree
Salary

Hourly Pay Rate is $16.40.
