Position Title: Lecturing Fellow
Location: 2122 Campus Drive, Durham, NC 27708
Summary of Duties: Teach the assigned sections. Verify proper placement of students throughout the entire drop and add period to ensure students are placed in accordance with the Language Program’s placement guidelines. Prepare students to meet course objectives for all levels by covering the syllabus’s content. Understand the Language Requirement and Foreign Languages at Duke to answer questions about language options and requirements. Use the target language in the classroom and limit English to certain contexts. Encourage student participation in the target language. Ensure all teaching materials follow the pedagogical approach of the language program. Work under the standardized conditions of the language program by grading according to standardized criteria across sections and adhering to course-specific common due dates and deadlines in the course. Attend Fall and Spring Orientation Workshops that provide important training and preparation for teaching and must be attended in their entirety. Attend all in-service workshops, training sessions, and conferences on Foreign Language Pedagogy at Duke.
Qualifications: PhD in Hispanic Languages and Literature or closely related field
