Position Purpose
To participate as part of a decision-making team (coaching staff) under the direction of the head coach in planning, coaching, recruiting, administering, and promoting the basketball program within NCAA, Ivy League, and institutional standards. The Assistant Coach plays a critical role in achieving the overall goals of the basketball program by providing important recommendations, suggestions and decisions regarding game strategies, line-ups, priority listing of recruits, etc. as well as offering initiative and independent judgment (e.g., in providing coaching instruction, evaluating, and communicating with prospective recruits and their parents, and representing the basketball program to constituents).

Bachelors plus 6 or more years' experience or combination of education and experience
Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- 6 years experience playing and/or coaching Basketball at the high school or collegiate level.
- Bachelor’s Degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong knowledge of Basketball skills and strategies in one or more areas (e.g., offense, defense, etc.).
- Good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of people in a diverse community.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to recruit effectively with no athletic grants and highly selective admissions standards.
- Strong commitment to a diverse working environment and to serving the needs of a large and diverse community.
- Must possess valid driver’s license for off-campus recruiting efforts.

- Assists head coach in developing and implementing an overall recruiting plan, including, but not limited to: a) identifying qualified students and talented athletes; b) communicating with prospects by phone, mail, e-mail; c) traveling to evaluate prospects, meet parents and high school coaches: d) organizing and participating in visits to campus by prospects, and e) maintaining appropriate recruiting records as required by the NCAA .
- Maintains knowledge of the College’s programs and opportunities to effectively inform prospects.
