Position Purpose

Reporting to the Dartmouth Cancer Center ( DCC ) Associate Director for Strategic Initiatives & Global Oncology ( ADSIGO ), provides day-to-day administrative and programmatic support.

Description

The Dartmouth Cancer Center (formerly Norris Cotton Cancer Center) is one of just 51 U.S. National Cancer Institute designated comprehensive cancer centers and the only one north of Boston and east of Albany. We have responsibility for advancing cancer science through research, treating patients, and educating clinicians and scientists. The Cancer Center is located at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center ( DHMC ) in Lebanon NH and our director reports jointly to the President of Dartmouth Health and the Dean of Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth College.
The Operations Assistant, Administrative is part of the central administrative and management team working in the Rubin Building at DHMC . The Operations Assistant, Administrative reports directly to the Associate Director for Strategic Initiatives & Global Oncology and the faculty director of the Cancer Biology doctoral training program. Over the summer of 2022, the team is transitioning back to onsite work.

Required Qualifications - Education and Yrs Exp

Associates or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

* Three years of general office or financial experience.
* Associate’s degree, or the equivalent work experience.
* Ability to manage logistical and administrative details of multiple tasks or projects.
* Ability to plan work, set priorities, and respond to pressures, deadlines, and changes in schedules and priorities.
* Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work effectively, independently, and as a member of a team.
* Proficiency in database management, spreadsheets, and other computer software.

Key Accountabilities

Description

Serves as the administrative coordinator of the Cancer Biology Graduate ( CANB ) Program including managing course/program descriptions in the ORC, entering courses into timetable each term, assisting students with course registration, reserving classroom space, recording grades, setting up CANB events, preparing financial requests, tracking alumni, and responding to student issues and questions.

Description

Coordinates an evolving portfolio of NCCC educational programs for participants ranging from high school to senior scientists. Responsibilities include participation in program development, managing activities, communicating with internal and external participants and program leaders, facilitating application processes, supporting participants’ requests, managing budgets, and coordinating activities with associated faculty.
• Coordinates program evaluation with Dartmouth’s Center for Program Design and Evaluation ( CPDE ), serving as the internal staff member to execute on CPDE -led instructions for evaluation efforts. Has primary responsibility for NCCC’s TRACE database for long-term tracking of NCCC’s trainees.

Description

Working with health and administrative professionals, participates in NCCC Global Oncology project planning. Provides administrative support to Global Oncology initiatives including grant preparation, post-award management, publication development, and travel. Sets and maintains schedules and timelines to meet project administrative requirements.
• Serves as liaison with international organizations regarding logistical and administrative documentation issues including registration and other documentation for international activities. Ensures that Norris Cotton Cancer Center personnel have met all documentation, immunization, and travel requirements prior to departure. Coordinates travel arrangements for NCCC -affiliated participants.
