Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Job Title: Director of Alumni Relations

Department: Alumni Relations

Reports to: Chief of Staff

Status: Full-Time, Benefit Eligible

Location: Lisle Campus

Position Summary: The Director of Alumni Relations will be responsible for the oversight, vision, and direction of the Office of Alumni Relations with the goals of forging and maintaining relationships with alumni, communications with alumni, cultivating volunteers and creating opportunities for alumni to connect with one another.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

1. Create engagement and retention initiatives for BenU alumni including developing new and consistent ways to keep alumni engaged as active participants in the University community. Liaise with each of the colleges and other areas on campus to focus on making alumni engagement more collaborative. Craft strategy that encourages this collaboration and fosters an increased level of engagement.

2. Develop and grow volunteer programs that give alumni the opportunity to give back to their alma mater as well as support University goals like recruitment and retention. These include but are not limited to the Alumni Association Board of Directors, a student-alumni Mentoring Program and the Admitted Student Postcard Project, along with other opportunities that may arise.

3. Responsible for alumni recognition and award programs that honor Benedictine’s top alumni and acknowledge significant alumni milestones, including the Alumni Achievement Awards, reunion programming, etc. Also responsible for communications with alumni including social media, e-mails, etc.

Other Functions:

1.Assist in overall goals of University Development
2.Collaborate with Marketing, Career, and Enrollment on initiatives as needed.

Required Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's Degree Required

Experience: 5+ years of working experience in alumni relations, event planning, fundraising or similar field. Strong people skills and the ability to cultivate and sustain strong relationships a must. Must be able to lead in a team environment, as well as anticipate and take initiative on an individual basis.

Specific Skills: Ability to work independently, high level of written communication, telephone, organizational and computer skills.

Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds. Use of computer screen, phone, and customer service. May require bending, or sitting for long periods of time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions: Evenings, weekends and travel will periodically be required.

Training: Must complete all trainings required by Benedictine University.
