The College of Health Professions is seeking talented and enthusiastic applicants for a Senior Budget and Finance Administrator. This position will join the CHP Finance team and play a critical role in the financial management of the College.


The position provides senior level oversight and support of the financial functions for the College of Health Professions (CHP). The incumbent is responsible for financial management of assigned departments and will develop and recommend policies and procedures in managing the departmental accounting, budget operations, financial reporting, account reconciliation, and grants management with responsibility for planning and effectively spending a budget to include E&G, grants, endowments, scholarships, FACR and other fund sources in University, VCU Foundation and MCV Foundation accounts. They will ensure that fiscal affairs are handled consistently in accordance with University, State, and Federal law, policy, and regulations. Monitor all accounts and balances to ensure compliance with budgets and to avoid deficit spending. Provide daily financial guidance to the chairs while maintaining a sound financial position for the department This position will work within the CHP Finance team under the direction of the Executive Director of Budget and Finance.

Minimum qualifications:

-Bachelors degree and 1-3 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education, experience and training.

-Demonstrated experience in working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.

-Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines, multi-task and determine priorities.

-Excellent organizational and computer skills.

-Excellent analytical, critical thinking, strategic planning and problem solving skills.

-Ability to work effectively without direct supervision and to make appropriate independent decisions.

-Must be a self initiator and accept the challenge of allocating resources and trouble shooting independently.

-Demonstrated working knowledge of State and University budget processes, federal and state compliance policies.

-Excellent in the daily use of Microsoft Excel, Google suite and Zoom.

-Demonstrated ability to work independently, and prioritize multiple complex tasks.

-Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

-Excellent customer service.

Preferred qualifications:

-Experience with state/university or higher education setting.

-Experience with sponsored programs rules and regulations, certified research administrator.

-Experience using financial recordkeeping and/or procurement software systems such as Banner Finance or VCU Real Source.

Salary Range: $70,000 - $80,000
