Position Summary
Job Purpose
Lead an intradepartmental team by interacting with the Center for Black Entrepreneurship, Department of Economics, the Innovation lab including Spelpreneur, all student Entrepreneurship clubs, Institutional Advancement, Career Planning and Development, and Executive Projects and Initiatives, empowering them to effectively engage with students who have an interest in entrepreneurship and business involvement in community development. Implement and maintain a robust Program implemented in tandem with co-curricular activities. Work with Corporate Partners and Sponsors in order to better position Spelman Entrepreneurship Program students for opportunities and exposure to their respective organizations. Ensure that Spelman students are positioned well to enter entrepreneurial or intrapreneurial trajectories.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
■ Assist leadership in the development and enhancement of the Entrepreneurship Program at Spelman College in conjunction with the Center for Black Entrepreneurship Director.
■ Provide insight and clarity regarding the scope and flexibility of the Entrepreneurship Program at Spelman
■ Assist the Entrepreneurial Center with how the Entrepreneurship minor compliments the Management and Organization minor at Spelman College and the Entrepreneurship minor at Morehouse College
■ Collaborate with the Innovation Lab and all other Entrepreneurship Initiatives on campus to provide robust and jointed curriculum and co-curricular experiences for students.
■ Serve on interdepartmental team to oversee the integration of the Entrepreneurship minor across campus and with other minors such as Cosmetic Science, game development, and the like.
■ Collaborate with Career Planning and Development and Institutional Advancement in the process of identifying and developing students in Entrepreneurship for future opportunities
■ Assess and support the integrity and implementation of the Entrepreneurship minor and the Center for Black Entrepreneurship activities at Spelman
■ Communicate and help implement organizational initiatives such as teaching series, key courses and community involvement events
■ Assist institutional advancement with corporate sponsorships and partnerships as needed
■ Work closely with Economics Chair and faculty in curriculum creation
■ Work closely with Morehouse Entrepreneurship program coordinator in curriculum creation
■ Initiate and oversee all paperwork needed for the minor and CBE activities
■ Work closely with CBE Director, Economics Chair and Morehouse Program Coordinator to ensure consistency in messaging to prospective students across web/online, email, social media and print formats
■ Teach 2 classes per academic year in the Minor, where applicable
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Minimum of a Master’s degree in a business-related field (such as an MBA ) with at least 5 years of work experience, including leadership and P&L responsibility
■ Comprehensive knowledge, agreement, and adherence to the mission, vision, and core values of Spelman College
■ Self-motivated, results-oriented, independent worker with the leadership skills necessary to engage and lead campus teams, corporate partnership and sponsorship teams
■ Demonstrated leadership ability, including vision casting and strategic implementation
■ Ability to recognize and develop future talent
■ Ability to work with multiple units and teams
■ Strong communication skills, both written and oral, at all levels
■ Ability to administrate and prioritize varied workloads, executing appropriate judgment and confidentiality
■ Instructional expertise in Finance with an eagerness to engage with students interested in both entrepreneurship and business’ involvement in community development
■ Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead within a team environment
■ Demonstrated commitment to working with underrepresented minorities through teaching and mentoring
Preferred Qualifications :
Experience in developing an academic program; Entrepreneurship experience
