The Laboratory of Basic and Clinical Muscle Biology (PI: Leonardo Ferreira, PhD) in the Department of Applied Physiology and Kinesiology at the University of Florida seeks a candidate for a NIH funded postdoctoral position focused on diaphragm weakness in heart failure. The postdoctoral research associate will be part of a rich academic environment with opportunities for interactions and collaborative research with investigators focused on striated muscle biology and respiratory neuromuscular disorders. The candidate will have opportunity for career development and growth in the fields of cardiac, respiratory, and skeletal muscle physiology and biophysics, including submission of career development awards such as those available from NIH and American Heart Association. GAINESVILLE, FLORIDA: The University of Florida is located in Gainesville, a city of approximately 250,000 residents in North-Central Florida www.cityofgainesville.org . Expected Salary:

Commensurate with experience and consistent with NIH guidelines.

Minimum Requirements:

The candidate should have an MD, DVM, PhD, or equivalent degree in biomedical sciences.

Preferred Qualifications:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Desire to engage in rigorous basic science research.

Experience in cardiovascular, respiratory, or skeletal muscle research is preferred.

Meeting project deadlines and working in a team environment will be important.
