School of Medicine Chief Information Officer

Job Description

This position is responsible for applying web application and database technologies to support MU School of Medicine’s application and data management, reporting and analytics needs. While some data management efforts are handled through commercial tools, other reporting tools require customized development and support. This position will also be developing new custom applications and supporting/upgrading existing web applications for the School of Medicine's Student Information System that includes functionality such as admissions, student portfolios, application administration exam systems, faculty portal, Student Evaluation of Clerkships System, and grade transmission to MyZou, and other projects.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Build, test, and debug various .NET applications.
• Working knowledge of web applications and web services, such as APIs, CSS, HTML5, TypeScript, JavaScript, jQuery, PHP, security principles, REST, SOAP, and web user interface design (UI).
• Design software development/enhancement plans including project schedules. Identify, analyze, and document requirements by establishing personal rapport with students, faculty, staff, and with other persons in a position to understand service requirements. Analyze customer requirements to improve and automate data collection and reporting processes.
• Demonstrated ability with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MS SQL Server) and SQL Programming.
• Develop web-based applications to collect and display/disseminate information according to documented plans with a focus on self-service and automation. Test, modify, debug, and maintain such programs. Maintain documentation.
• Develop work effort and cost estimates to determine project feasibility and help set priorities.
• Assist supervisor by conducting research and development (R&D) on new technologies.
• Experience with cloud based ETL, Spark/Databricks, Snowflake, machine learning, API development and post/retrieve data via JSON, working experience on scripting language, data modeling, NoSQL and mongoDB.
• Working knowledge on Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, Power Virtual Agents).

Salary and level commensurate with education and experience.

Shift

Monday – Friday

8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree and 3 years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience as a .NET Developer
• In-depth knowledge of at least one of the .NET languages (C# preferred)
• Core concepts: HTTP, HTTPS, SSL/TLS, versioning, breaking changes, backward compatibility, REST, RPC
• Demonstrated ability to design, develop, deliver, and support web applications using one or more of the following languages/frameworks; AngularJS, jQuery, ASP.NET, C#, Java HTML, CSS, T-SQL, Python, and stored procedures.
